SERVICES FOR CAREER SUPPORT

What comes next for you now that you are a medical student? Which specialisation ought you to choose? And what comes next once you graduate from college?

You are not alone if you are troubled by questions similar to these! At BAU, we think it’s important to support each of our students as they make important decisions for their future. The careers in medicine programme, which is integrated into every step of your six years here, will assist you in exploring, deciding, and succeeding in whichever path you ultimately decide to take.

YEARS 1-3: "EXPLORE"

Careers in medicine provide resources and guidance to help you explore the vast array of specialisations that medicine offers, regardless of how long you’ve known what you want to specialise in or how little you know. PORTFOLIO COACHES You will be paired with a portfolio coach before you even set foot on campus, and they will provide guidance and academic support for the duration of your six years at BAU. Additionally, faculty members who have undergone specialised training as portfolio coaches will offer their guidance to you as you investigate and select a speciality. Early Clerkship Because of BAU’s distinctive curriculum, you can begin clinical visits in year 2, providing you with early exposure to a variety of clinical experiences, in contrast to a traditional medical university schedule. You will have the opportunity to take electives and devote more time to your favourite field later on in years two and three.

YEARS 1-3: "EXPLORE"

After spending some time investigating a wide range of specialisations, it’s time to select the ones you find most intriguing. One of the most difficult decisions you will make in medical school is choosing a speciality, but Careers in Medicine is here to support you every step of the way. CAREER ADVICE Your faculty adviser and portfolio coach will be on hand to assist you in finding more resources and to answer any questions you may have throughout the decision-making process. Because of the close friendship you’ve developed over the past few years, they’re in a great position to provide you with individualised counsel and insight.

YEARS 1-3: "EXPLORE"

After you’ve chosen a specialty, Careers in Medicine provides a number of resources to assist you in finding the ideal residency to further your professional objectives. Your faculty adviser, mentor, and portfolio coach will be there for you every step of the way for the full six years to help with questions and offer extra resources to help you get ready for residency.
